Track of the Day: Right Jab – Brown (Outstrip Remix)

Sticking with the tracklsit from our Guest Mix by Giom this week, I've picked this solid Tech House roller from Outstrip remixing 'Brown' from Right Jab's latest EP off of Rezongar Music.

A big pulsating kick drum drives off the track right from the outset while some syncopated congas nestles beneath a tight clipped and muffled tom that rolls in and out of every 4/4 beat. Short hits of a delayed clap pan across the soundscape while a soft shaker decorates the upper registers to round out some sweet percussive layering. The bass line rolls in really smoothly after the breakdown completing the groove and setting off a few more FX'd elements in motion that add more character to the drums including a nice little tambourine and what sounds like a reversed shaker loop. A heavily distorted synth pad comes into play to introduce the tracks main breakdown and reverbed vocal sample is sprinkled into he arrangement for good measure.If you’re one for getting tracks to really blend together or just need a little break between some heavier tunes 'Brown' is one of those perfect transitionary songs and the drums sound like they would layer really nice with a more bass dominant arrangement during a mix. Giom continues to reveal new music and labels to us this week and it's part of the fun of exploring our guests' tracklists week in and week out.Check out the full EP release below:Brothers Anton Sever & Denis Borisov p.k.a Outstrip are Ukrainian partnership that focus on some really awesome deep and tech house productions. Their talents have not gone unnoticed releasing on a plethora of labels including industry leaders, Rejected, Knee Deep In Sound, and Stil Vor Talent. I'm not sure if this was intentional but their name does suit them well as their compositions do inherently features really awesome stripped down drums and their breakdown peel back to some minimal elements. I definitely recommend checking out a few of their releases and adding them to your rekordbox:Rezongar is new to our blog and they haven't been on my radar until today. Predominantly focused on House and Techno releases the group choose to refrain from multi-tagging their music and simply labeling it 'other'. The label was founded in 2011 by Joe Fisher, who also features as one of the remixers on this release. Fisher is a well established DJ in South America and also has another label Elephant Chords that features more classic and deep house vibes.
