Track of the Day: 'So Real' by Low Steppa
So Real - Low Steppa
Had to throw this one up there for today to show some love to @lowsteppa for following me on twitter this weekend out of the blue! Been a big fan of what he has been doing as you may have noticed from some of our posts here at LAMP. Not a stranger to Los Angeles but not a native either. Low Steppa hails from Birmingham in the UK and has been making a name for himself going all the way back to 1999 when he was DJing and producing music as Will Bailey. In fact he has had many different aliases when it comes to making music; Twocker and Bass Weazel are few more. Having a few different project names is something I have found to be more and more common with some of these guys who have been around forever, but are constantly reinventing themselves to keep their sounds fresh and entertaining, as is the case with Low Steppa. Looking back in my music library I definitely have a couple of tracks for some of these monikers. In addition to producing he has started in my opinion one of the best labels for bass and house music out there Simma Black."So Real" is a new one he just released on his label. A perfect mix of house music with that UK garage flare to it. Low Steppa gets the ball rolling with a stabbing piano chord progression that leads into a classic 90's sounding female house vocal and ties it together with some heart thumping bass to give it a new fresh appeal. If you want to see Mr. Low Steppa live and in the flesh he will be headlining one of my favorite nights at one of the best clubs in all the land, Night Bass at Sound January 22.Also we're almost sold out of our $5 Pre-sale tickets to our LAMP 2 Year Anniversary so don't sleep on that:
