It doesn't feel like its been 10 years but it has. The sound that has been emanating from the San Francisco based label Dirtybird has had a major influence on many a party goer over the years. For me personally I can remember when I heard 'The Whistler' and 'Who's Afraid of Detroit' back in 2006 for the first time and literally had them on repeat for weeks. That feeling has not changed in the last 10 years and if anything it has grown even stronger. I wait with eager anticipation for the next Drip release and check in regularly on the 'Players' as they are referred to by label boss Claude Von Stroke who consist of some of the best and brightest in the business of making booty shaking music. Guys who have been around since the labels beginning like The Martin Brothers, Worthy and Riva Starr to some of the newer players who are spreading their wings like Bruno Furlan, Kill Frenzy, and Justin Jay. It would take too much time to list them all but Dirtybird is quite possibly the only label that you can count on 100% of the time to put out solid releases. Which is a testament to its creators and anyone who has been talented enough to get the Dirtybird stamp of approval.Two of those people, are one of the guys who helped start Dirtybird Justin Martin , along with his occasional producing partner Ardalan. If you follow the blog regularly you know that both of these amazing producers have found their way into our Track of the Day & Weekly Mix blog posts before. My first interaction with these two as a duo goes back to a release they had together in 2009 'Mr. Spock'.It is still one of my absolute favorite tracks. Easily top 5 if I had to pick a top 5. They have given the rest of the top 5 a run for their money as well with their latest release 'Function'. This undeniably fun and dance floor filling tune is going to be one we will definitely here quite often over the coming months and for years to come. Everything about this rump shaking track embodies the Dirtybird sound.
