Track of the Day: Fono - NRG feat. Durante

Stepping in for Mikey today and I found a new one for you from Fono, who had a breakout year last year with his hit release 'Real Joy' which burned up the house charts last year and saw remixes from some heavy hitters like Chris Lake and Duke Dumont among others along with massive support from Radio 1. He is back just in time for the end of the summer with this single from an upcoming 5 track LP slated for release Sept 30th. To be honest my good friend Durante who is featured on our track of the day 'NRG' is the reason I was initially drawn to this track. Fono is a new one for me but I have very quickly become a fan. I am in love with the vibrant and punchy kick that starts things off. It accentuates the groove nicely and with the added clap and snares makes sure it doesnt get lost in the myriad of different synths going absolutely bonkers in this arrangement. Some new age disco funk is the best way to describe this track. As the track is titled 'NRG' it comes as no surprise that there is no shortage of highly energetic synth rifs. The chord synth organ stab that they use and modulate through out the track is fucking brilliant. From the modulated drop-outs to the quick staccato stabs that chop up the groove so nicely, I literally cant get enough. I took a few more minutes to go through and peruse some of the other tracks from Fono and I was not disappointed. I am a big fan of his 'Feet on the Ground' coming on the same EP as NRG., I also added 'Real Joy' his hit song from last summer for you to check out as well in case you missed it like I did. Enjoy.
