LAMP Weekly Mix #39 feat. PZB

Hey so things got a little hectic this week over in LAMP headquarters. Sorry for neglecting our track of the day selections. I did however get Mix #39 done for you all. Today I thought I would walk you guys through the process of how I do the weekly mixes. What I usually do is get the concept of the mix first. Basically which genres (House, Tech House, Techno, Minimal etc) do I want to touch on. I go through and find new music and pick out a group of tracks that I think will fit well together. For this weeks mix I actually did things a little different than usual. Usually I will put the concept of the mix together in the studio as a live mix on my CDJ's. Run through a few different ideas and then transfer over to Ableton where I recreate the mix. Today I did things a little different in that I recorded this mix live as I played it on CDJ's. The main difference between these methods is Ableton allows me to experiment and adjust things that may not be perfect or are just a little off. When recording a mix live as this one is, there is no ability to go back and brush up little errors so any slip ups can be heard and are not fixable. Its good to do things both ways and both have their advantages. Mostly doing it live on one run through just really saves you time over doing it in Ableton. Also its way more fun to mix on CDJ's over Ableton. So there you go. Not sure how informative that was but hopefully it gives you all a better idea of what goes into putting these mixes together.
