Track of the Day: YokoO - Nefelibata Feat. Seabourne
If you follow the blog regularly you are probably aware of how much I love the label Save Us Records. I played a gig with Andrea Ljekaj (aka LJ), a couple years ago in Croatia and spent a good deal of time with Hrvoje Slebur who have become friends of mine and are instrumental pieces of the Save Us Records family. I find myself reviewing Save Us member Jonas Saalbach's music quite a bit actually. The whole label is pretty damn fantastic to be honest, from Vonda7 and Cosmic Cowboys, LJ, Mallone and the rest of them. Their catalog is small but growing rapidly as they just launched last year. One of their artists who is also a part of the hugely popular All Day I Dream crew, YokoO is making a name for himself in the underground techno scene in a big way here on the west coast. His track for them 'Nefelibata' is absolutely amazing. Putting together a very simple but powerful groove that drives the track with some fanciful bells bouncing in the background. YokoO also makes great use of space in his mix with lots of interesting fx. The star of the track though is Seabourne and her mesmerizing voice. I love the energy the track brings back after the long vocal breakdown. There is so much umph for lack of a better word in this track when it drops. If you are into this, here is another amazing tune featuring these two that came out middle of last year. The Berlin based producer YokoO has quickly made a name for himself in the House music scene worldwide. Save Us Records is just one of many factions he can claim to be a part of. He has proven himself to be quite the factor in the studio over the last few years. Releases with some huge labels which include, All Day I Dream, Musik Gewinnt Freunde, Kindisch, Get Physical, Moodmusic and Plastic City. He is fast becoming recognized as a top DJ as well being sought after all over the world. He recently graced the stages of BPM festival and had some awesome adventures in NYC getting stranded in a blizzard with Lee Burridge. I'm not gonna lie that kinda sounds like fun. YokoO is someone that I feel is driven by his soul when it comes to making music. He seems to really enjoy the time he has to get away from everything and connect with himself and his surrounding whether that be in the urban jungles or the quiet expanses of of nature. It is always refreshing to me when I come across such producers as I feel they are very rare breeds in this day and age. 'Nefilbata' is forthcoming on February 14th so keep an eye out for it when it drops.
