Gorgon City dropped this new single 'Money' along with remixes on Damian Lazarus' Crosstown Rebels earlier this week that I picked up in my latest dig. They put together another rolling UK bass smash hit that I'm sure along with the very choice remixes is going to be making the rounds in DJ sets for quite a while. Which takes us to Riva Starr for the day. It has been a long time since we have featured something from him. His take on this track is a little more Chicago House but with a little tech flair added here and there. It has a smooth groove that flows effortlessly from one section of the arrangement to the next. Riva also does an excellent job of mixing and playing with the vocal from the original track. There is one part of the track where you feel like you are being sucked into a vortex of sound only to be swiftly and smoothly placed right back into disco paradise. It is a perfect little tech house jam that I guarantee will put a little boogie in your day.Riva Starr has been blazing a trail since the late 2000's. One of the hardest working producers and kick ass DJ's I have ever come across in all of my years of consuming dance music. He is also a label owner on top of that. Heading up the hugely successful Snatch! Records. Above is his latest full length album recently put out for Cajual Records and it is all the reason you need to dive fully into this Italian born producers music. Currently based in the UK, Starr like I said is one of the hardest working people in the business. Constantly impressing me with his output. When I search my library for his name it comes back with over 100 tracks (Originals and Remixes). Here is probably the first track from Riva I ever came across. Either that or some stuff from Dirtybird circa '07.It seems like almost every week I am seeing something new from him. Whether it be an original, a remix, mix-tape, you name it the guy puts in work. All while touring every part of the globe in constant demand for his impeccable ability to move a dance floor. His style is transcending of genres to the point where it's impossible to say what his style would be other than that it is quality dance music.You never know exactly what you are going to get with him. It is a little like opening Christmas presents. You know it's gonna be something cool but what is it? Sometimes it's Disco (those Italians and their disco, they do it so well), others it's Techno, tech house any one? Riva has got you covered. He has released on pretty much every house music label under the sun and continues to be a leader and pioneer with his own label as well. He is sough after by some of the biggest producers to work on tracks, Fatboy Slim and Green Velvet are two who come to mind right away.The first track on this playlist is unavailable in the U.S. but the others are.There are many others for sure. I could probably sit here all day and tell you about all the cool shit he has done but its better if you discover some of it on your own.
