Track of the Day: Marc Romboy & Dortmunder Philharmonker - Prélude à l´après-midi d´un faune (Reconstructing Debussy)

I don't even know where to begin to describe our track of the day today. On December 12th 2016 Marc Romboy joined up with the Dortmunder Philharmoniker to compose or rather, deconstruct and recompose one of Romboy's favorite musicians, Claude Debussy. The French artists most famous piece is probably Clair de Lune and he was one of the more popular composers of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. You have heard his music in countless things probably without even realizing it. The whole event consisted of Romboy along with the Orchestra and Conductor Ingo-Martin Stadtmüller reprising "La mer" along with one of Debussy's more popular pieces "Prélude à l´après-midi d´un faune". The entire recording was just released on Romboy's Systematic Records and deserves a listen straight through from start to finish. A gorgeous blending of a full orchestra and the magic of Romboy and his array of machines and synths that bring two of Debussy's early works into the 21st century. I often have to explain to people that some of the producers out there in the techno and electronic world are todays Debussy's, Beethoven's and Mozart's. The Romboy's, the Bodzin's and Kink's are the new generation making incredible music that I think is overlooked at times because they are using a synthesizer and a drum machine to create the sounds which is still not completely understood by the average music consumer here in the US. In Europe it is a different story. You will find city centers and squares filled to the brim with people at all times of day dancing and losing themselves to electronic music. I wish there would be more opportunities to experience music like this available to me, and I think I am pretty lucky out here in Los Angeles. We are big fans of Romboy here at LAMP and honestly how can you not be. The guy is an absolute genius. His productions range from Progressive to Techno to House and everywhere in between. Having been the head of a highly respected label Systematic for the last 13 years and a slough of releases spread across countless others he has firmly established himself as one of the worlds great producers. If you happen to find yourself out near Denver/Cheyenne on July 29/30th do yourself a favor and head out to Endless Sky where yours truly will be playing with Marc Romboy along with Catz N Dogz and Brian Cid. I am pretty excited for this opportunity to see these geniuses at work.
