Track of the Day: Dan Caster - Freefall

I’ve been looking for a chance to talk about this guy for a couple of weeks at this point but I keep getting sidetracked… There’s too much good stuff out there! Dan Caster’s most recent release, ‘Freefall’, out now on SOSO Hamburg, is the perfect opportunity. ‘Freefall’, the title track, is a banger. It utilizes a subtle piano riff over a deep, rumbling bassline and dark, moody vocals. The muted symbols and loud claps keep the energy up as the tune progresses to create a very dynamic song. As one can expect from a producer of Caster’s skill and experience, ‘Freefall’ is an absolutely beautiful track that is sure to keep a crowd moving. His work speaks for itself. In addition to his own releases on Supdub Records and more recently Katermukke and SOSO Hamburg, Caster worked as a behind the scenes producer with Niconé, Sascha Braemer, and Rene Bourgeois for years. Caster’s remix of Niconé & Braemer’s ‘Runaway’ on Stil vor Talent is the highlight of his work with that crew, while ‘Mama Say’, released in 2013 on Light My Fire, blew up on Beatport reaching no.2 on the Nu Disco charts.
