Track of the Day: Man With No Shadow - Double Dub

Since 1993, Dylan Hermelijn (aka 2000 and One) has been selecting some of the finest Techno and Tech-House there is on offer and putting it out on his label 100% Pure. Yesterday the label released their latest EP from Amsterdam based producer Man With No Shadow. Comprised of 3 originals and a remix from the renown Copy Paste Soul the EP is skewed more to wards the techno side of things compared to what Man With No Shadow fans are used to. 'Double Dub' is the track we chose to go with out all of them. Starting off with a tight and punchy kick that still has plenty of boom to it, 'Double Dub' (which you quickly figure out why it's called that) gradually builds itself through out each section of the track. Working that vocal chop the rest of the track is heavily driven by its percussive elements as it takes on a bit of that old Richie Hawtin style of minimal but not so minimal techno. I really enjoyed this entire EP. Drumfeld is way more on the tech-house side of things but still pumping with the drums. While Asteriks has a bit more of a Balearic Island vibe to it but still extremely heavy on the percussion and beat driven. A solid EP all the way through. Check out the other two below. We were very fortunate to have the legendary Spanish producer and DJ Cristian Varela grace our guest mix series this week. He made for us a 2hr mix on 4 CDJ's. I also had a chance to ask him a few questions which you can check out here. Have a listen and enjoy.
