Track of the day: Yolanda Be Cool - “Change” (Ballast Remix)

Is it just me or is this week flying by. Wednesday totally snuck up on me which means the weekend is just around the corner. Its not too surprising though, with the guest mix I have been listening all week so far from our man of the week kidbusiness. Time flies when your having fun and listening to good music. So many great tracks in the mix that are sewn together so well. For our track of the day I had the task of choosing one of the 28 tracks kidbusiness threw into his mix. For today we have landed on this remix of Yolanda Be Cool's 'Change' by Ballast.While listening through this weeks mix several tracks stood out to me but this one more than most. Ballast takes the main theme from Nola Darling's funky throw back vocal and chops it up throughout the track. Starting out with a fiercely energetic build up the track drops into a classic UK Garage type baseline that is big, round, and super juicy. Around 2 minutes in a quirky little synth comes in and gives the track a ridiculously fun groove that I just want to have on repeat. Absolutely loving this track from start to finish. Only disappointment is I didn't come across it sooner.Free DownloadBallast is an up and coming producer who from what I can tell is from Arizona and currently residing in Los Angeles. In the past year he has seen releases on Monstart, B.YRSLF DIVISION, and Dirtybird. I unfortunately wasnt able to find out much else about him other than he was recently added to C.O.A.S.T. a collective here in Los Angeles that has been gaining attention. Rest assured I will be doing some follow up research on Ballast as I feel this is hardly the last we will hear from him.
