Track of the Day: 'Tempest' - Otik

Keeping it UK, today we have another young master of the bass, Otik. 'Tempest' which you can download for free on the XLR8R SoundCloud page, was played for me by one of our friends Ambwilans back a couple of years ago when it first came out. I was happy to see it in the mix this week that Atlas prepared for us. I remembered it instantly when I heard that clap. Always a sucker for a good clap Otik laces it in with a strong low end kick and snare which make up the meat of the track. Gradually the track introduces some sweeping pads along with some classic house vocal samples that build up to a driving baseline that bounces along and carries the track through. Those claps though.Otik is another relatively new artist putting out releases over the last couple of years. He has a few releases with XLR8R. The one above is also a free download and is one of the newer tracks he has released. He is a member of the Push & Run group and over the last year he has had releases with the Bear Fresh crew and has a forthcoming later this month with Infinite Machine. Drawing from a broad spectrum of influences such as French Fries, Burial, Caribou/Daphni, Bambounou, Throwing Snow, Jamie xx, James Blake and Mount Kimbie. Otik has a ranging style that intertwines Garage, Jungle, Bass, Hip-Hop and Ambient.
