Track of the Day: SpectraSoul - Ben
Track of the Day: SpectraSoul - Ben
Jumping into a world of music I know very little about today, Drum & Bass. That doesn't mean I enjoy it any less than all of the other music we review here at LAMP. As is apparent from from our guest mix this week, it is good to flip the switch every once in a while and take a different perspective on things. Drum & Bass may not be my primary form of musical entertainment but 'Ben' by SpectraSoul from Ducky's high intensity mix this week really stood out to me. I'm not even sure I can give the track a description that will do it justice. The bass line is flat out insane. It is reminiscent of some of the grungier stuff I was listening to way back in the 90's, taking tones from the UK Jungle scene and reminding me of guys like Roni Size. Also reminds me a little bit of this scene from Human Traffic (Go see this movie if you haven't)I had to do a little research because I had never come across either SpectraSoul or Shogun Records in my music digging which is a testament to just how much music is out there for everyone to find. Shogun has been around for about 11 years now and the vast majority of their events (They have upwards of 40 events a year in cities and at festivals) are held in and around the UK and Europe as a whole. SpectraSoul released their first EP ever with Shogun and have been close partners ever since their first release back on 2006. So I'm officially late to this party. They have tons more releases with Hospital Records, Focuz, Critcal among others. Check out their latest upcoming release below and dive into their Soundcloud if our looking for more. Also check out todays track of the day in this weeks guest mix from Ducky along with many more. Make sure to check out our interview with her here.
