Track of the Day: Sébastien Léger - Love Star
Sébastien Léger may win the award for having been featured here at LAMP the most. He is easily one of my favorite producers and speaking on behalf of the rest of the LAMP family it is safe to say that we enjoy his music here at LAMP. From his YouTube channel where he likes to share videos of him working on the Eurorack Modular which I always find fascinating to the countless productions he has releases through out his career that spans a couple of decades. I am sure we will continue to share his music as long as he keeps making it. Early last week Sudbeat Records (the imprint of South American musical genius Hernan Cattaneo) released the latest EP from Léger, "Love Star". The title track is our track of the day. Starting off with a smooth rolling percussive groove that feels almost tribal I found it very easy to settle right into this track and lose myself in my head for the better part of 9 minutes. Highlighting the enchanting groove (and what I think I really enjoy the most about Léger's productions) are the many different synth instruments he incorporates from the ethereal pads to the to the multitude of arps bouncing around in the background and a deep pulsating bass line. I can even hear an Sitar (I could be wrong but that's what I think it is) in there strumming away subtly driving the track along. At about 3:25 in Léger introduces this classic piano line that takes the song into another realm of absolute gorgeousness. I play a lot of sunrise sets and you better believe this will become one of my go to songs for bringing up the sun wherever we may be. There is one other track included on this EP titled 'Umbrella' which I also highly recommend. You can find that posted below along with one other recent track of his from Einmusika and just for fun last year I made a 3+hr mix which contains all of the Sébastien Léger tracks and remixes I had at the moment.
