My Beat - Wrong 'Uns
We're all a little beat (pun intended) from LAMPING this weekend but we're not shying away from our Track of the Day duties. Today we've got a delightful rework of classic house tune 'My Beat' from what appears to be a newly formed partnership called Wrong Uns. When talking about Jackin House this track can certainly be placed into that category and not surprisingly the Soundcloud channel known as CERTIFIED JACKIN snapped it up, and it's already had a feature on Sam Supplier's Rinse FM show. The track opens up with some raw percussion layers that set the rhythm for this bouncing house tune. A low rolling sub bass line establishes a subtle groove as Palmer Brown's vocals are introduced before the main bass pads are revealed. The build up is cleverly executed so that during the jump off as everything kicks in as one composition we don't feel overwhelmed by the amazing array of environmental and structural sounds that result. Timely vocal cuts and familiar analog stabs reminiscent of traditional house productions blend perfectly with more modern UK Bass movements that give Wrong Uns a unique platform to stand on.Check out the original 'Blaze' from Blaze featuring Palmer Brown off of Basic Blaze, Slip'n'slide:The Wrong 'Uns are made up of Danny Bramham & JR, two Rotheram (UK) based DJs that have a running residency at Loft Night Club (which is also the name of the label that they seem closely associated to and possibly run). Independently the 2 have explored a range of sounds and put their stamp on several remixes. Their first forray into collaboration started with a summer jam, in the form of a remix of Kelis' 'Bounce' and it looks as though their return to the studio is providing fruitful results.
