Track of the Day: Manik - Los Angeles Dub

It has been a minute since we last shared anything from our buddy Manik. Today marks the release of 'Recourse' Manik's latest EP with Josh Winks label Ovum Records. Absolutely loving this EP from head to toe. Out of the three, my personal favorite has to be 'Los Angeles Dub'. From the onset the track grabbed me with its real classic sounding drum kit. I wish I knew my kits better, regardless it has this real fresh sort of 80's feel to the groove. The thing about Manik and his tracks is they are so hard to classify because they so seamlessly cross so many genres. 'Los Angeles Dub' for example is a combination of old school Chicago style house, tech house, and acid house. An Acid Tech House roller if you will that has incredible flow and a perfectly arranged mix. From the acid bass line that drives the pace of the track along to the pads that are meandering in the background breathing life and energy into a very classic house groove. The other two tracks on this EP make it well worth picking up. The title track 'Recourse' is another wonderful tech house tune with Cari Golden doing a splendid job on the vocal track and the third 'VHS' rounding out the EP.
