Love Will Save The Day (The Golden Boy Remix) – Whitney Houston

Today was a special moment in US history as the Supreme Court made one of the most important decisions regarding marriage equality. In honor of this occasion I've chosen to review one of my favorite remixes that The Golden Boy has produced to date. The re-mastering and mixing of the original vocal track is fantastic, and honestly does Whitney Houston justice (a tall order for anyone to even attempt). The kick & snare layering is clean and powerful and when they're reintroduced after the main breakdown it's literally impossible to sit still. There's a deep grooving bass line that is introduced during the first drop of the track that adds a wonderful energy to the higher frequencies and beautiful chord progression. Bright disco style synths ride over top of the main chorus line creating a fantastic harmony with Houston's vocals. What's interesting in researching some of Houston's past live performances regarding this song is that she and her band always found cool and innovative ways to perform it, whether is was a simple tempo change or different chord arrangements.The Golden Boy also commonly referred to as TGB set the world alight a few years ago with his remix of Lauryn Hill's 'That Thing' amassing over 1 million plays to date:Since then the UK producer has been on an absolute tear bringing his own take on classic and vocal house to the masses and being championed by one of the greatest labels around, Eton Messy.
