Track of the Day: Hot Ink, Benik - Get To the Groove
Time for a little new classic house for your Wednesday. I missed this when Hot Ink and Benik first released this back in October for Safe Musics "Skill Box" (ADE Edition). Hot Ink very recently put out a brand new EP last month with them as well. It has 2 new originals 'The Acid Gang' and 'Dirty House' along with a few remixes from Alvaro Smart, Joe Pompeo and Timmy Smart all of which follow the classic house style that Hot Ink & Benik demonstrate in today's Track of the Day. It is so reminiscent of some of the great house tracks I was listening to early on from artists like Sandy Rivera, Eddie Amador and Armand Van Helden. Bass lines, Snares, and High hats all perfectly crafted together along with a simple and fun vocal that you can grab onto and sing along with if you're in the mood. All of his productions have that style to it and I absolutely am in love with them.If you just listened to the two Originals on Hot Ink's new EP you might think he was some New York/Chicago house guy reborn. It has that exact feel to it. Not the case though with this Milan producer who is just making a name for himself. Besides this latest release with Safe, last year he also had and incredible release with Mile End Records that I am going to say is just as good and maybe even better than his release with Safe. I know I support and so have a lot of others much more prominent than I. Hot Since 82 is one, Doorly , Gene Farris and Stacey Pullen are a few others who have show support for the artist. Other than what I have found on his SoundCloud page and the stuff he has been posting on Facebook not much is out there on Hot Ink. I think it is safe to say this young producer is just getting his start and he is off to a good one for sure. We look forward to hearing more from him for sure.
