Track of the Day: Harry Romero - Phuture (Joris Voorn Remix)

We are doing a little throw back Thursday today with another fine tune selected by our guest mix artist 333. A couple of legends in house and techno Harry Romero and Joris Voorn team up for this release that came out in 2010 on Ovum Records. You can tell from the onset this track is going to be big. Starting off with a pulsating pad and some simple percussion establishing a basic groove the kick and sub bass drop in as the track drives away for the next 7 minutes. Throughout the track Voorn introduces varying percussive elements along with some vocal fx and some interesting samples he created along the way. He does a great job of keeping the track moving even when the kick and sub bass drop out. Taking from the original Voorn plays with the vocal track a little, simplifying it and giving the female voice a more singular robotic sound which I like very much. The tail end of the track about the last minute and a half is basically just the cool vocal sample with a ton of processing put to it making it very interesting indeed. The video above is from Dancetrippin.tv I found on Youtube of another legend Josh Wink playing the track of the day last summer on the Terrace at Space Ibiza. Met some great people here who I am still friends with to this day and spent many nights listening and dancing to some of the best DJ's here back in 2009. Got the nostalgia running on high right now so I better not digress too much. Cool vid though definitely worth a quick look. The original is by someone who's music I have been listening to since the mid-nineties, Harry Romero, as he is know simply known since he went the Prince route and became the artist formerly known as Harry Choo Choo Romero. An east coast native he got his start in a new jersey night club where he was discovered. His first release in 1995 was for the legendary NY label Strictly Rhythm full of Acid House and Techno grooves. From there his career took of with a number of releases and continued to prosper as he has become one of the worlds most renown mix artists and producers the world has seen to date. I could probably write a ten page blog post just about Harry Romero but I just don't have the time right now. He doesn't seem to be slowing down anytime soon so I'm sure we will have more time in the future. For now dig into his Soundcloud and catalog of music you wont be disappointing. Hear is to 20 more years of great music from Harry Romero.Check out today's track of the day as well as many others like it in this weeks guest mix from 333.
