Track of the Day: Gene Farris & Sonny Fodera - 'We Work It'
‘We Work It' by Gene Farris & Sonny Fodera
I've been saving up some good stuff for you and ‘We Work It’ by Gene Farris & Sonny Fodera is one of ‘em. Released a little over a month ago on Visionquest Records this track has been making the rounds on the dance floor and is a great example of what can happen when old meets new and makes something special. Now just to be clear I am not calling anyone old here. But Chicago born legend and pioneer of the scene there, Gene Farris has definitely been around a little while crafting and spreading that love of house music for the past 25 years or so. It's a pretty safe bet that if you have been listening to house music during that time you have rocked out to one or more of his productions. His DJ'ing skills are impeccable as well. I've had the pleasure of witnessing the man in action several times and have been a fan of his as far back as I can remember. In 2015 he shows no signs of slowing down either. With this release and as well as his first release for Dirtybird, Mr. Farris is gearing up for a BIG 2015. A true legend of the genre. His counterpart in this production is Australian native and London based producer Sonny Fodera. He is what I like to refer as Legend in Training. His official debut comes in circa 2012-2013 with a plethora of releases and massive amounts of support and praise from legends in their own right such as Derrick Carter, Green Velvet and the late Frankie Knuckles. He has a true understanding of the genre and his abilities transcend between mainstream club tunes to the ever growing and changing underground scene. Evident by his expanding discography which includes releases on powerhouse labels such as Defected, Cajual Records, & DFTD just to name a few. His ability to understand and work a crowd on the decks is up there with the best of them too. Holding down his own at places like DC-10 in Ibiza, Air, Ministry of Sound and a residency at Ushuaia. Guys like Gene and their productions are the reason I fell in love with house music in the first place and guys like Sonny are the reason I continue to love it more today than I ever have. Enjoy this free download from Sonny and well see you back here tomorrow.PZB
