Wilks, one of our favorite up and coming Los Angeles based producer/DJ's, will be helping his degrade.la crew hold down the front room tomorrow night at LAMP pres. Plastic Plates at the Wilshire in Santa Monica. He is for sure a G-house aficionado with a particular affinity for that West Coast style. Following his EP release in December, the Los Angeles producer started 2014 with this new original record, titled G Thang. The track borrows vocal samples from "Aint Nothin' but A G Thang", which become a ghetto anthem over the song's dark, chugging bassline. I have been musically in love with these two for the last couple of years. They produce on their own as well but when they come together its always magic. This particular selection titled "Rude Boy" with its booming bass lines is a personal favorite of mine. I would go running if I ever heard these two were gonna play together here in Los Angeles. To my knowledge that has not happened yet. Chris Lorenzo however will be playing Night Bass with AC Slater, Ardalan and Bones at Sound later this month. I will definitely be running to that one.We are only a day away from LAMP Pres. Plastic Plates, Brooks and Millar, & Templeton Friday May 2nd.
