Track of the Day: Etapp Kyle - Alpha

A few days ago I came across a new EP from Etapp Kyle. This is my first exposure to the Ukrainian born and Berlin based producer. He has seen his productions gain the attention of Ben Klock and he has travelled the world over playing clubs and festivals. Last year he also landed a residency at subjectively one of the finest techno establishments on the planet, Berghain. A product of that establishment is the record label Ostgut Ton. It is one of the best labels for techno and if your music is on their label you are doing something right. His EP "Alpha" is his first full EP and a follow up to his appearance on "Zehn" (10 for all you non german speakers) of the "Otsgut Ton Zehn" Compilation celebrating 10 years of Ostgut Ton. Four tracks make up the EP and if I can make a suggestion please try to listen to this full EP in succesion as I think it really tells a complete story and takes you on a fantastic journey through sound. "Alpha" the first track on the album is our focus for today. An ethereal vibe defines this track with ambient pads and white noise that is flanged throughout almost the entire track. It really gives the sensation of sitting on a pebbled shoreline as small waves come crashing in. A sophisticated yet minimal groove propels the track along while a bright and bouncy synth cascades its way in and out of the mix. Kyle does an incredible job of connecting the pieces so seamlessly. It is very easy to lose yourself in this track and the rest for that matter. It is only snippets of the EP on Soundcloud but I did find a full version of Alpha on youtube so you can listen to the whole thing below as well. You should probably just pick this up on Beatport though so you can really listen to the whole thing through. Cheers and enjoy.
