Track of the Day: Amtrac - Long Nights (Durante Remix)

Been really enjoying watching this talented young artist grow. Durante surprised me yesterday with his new remix of Long Nights recently released by Amtrac. The original on its own is a wonderful tune. In it Amtrac shows off an incredible vocal talent. His voice has a real soulful character to it that Durante utilizes to its full extent in his remix. He brightens up and really brings the vocal out while taking the track into a bit of a darker realm of melodic techno. Starting things off relatively calmly with firm 4 on the floor kick, a salsa-esque groove, and some floating pads, the main vocal builds up to the introduction of some seriously phat bass lines, and arpeggio leads that drive the pace of the track forward. It's got a bit of that Fur Coat feel to it. Amtracs voice is fricking incredible and really lends a helping hand but Durante has done an incredible job of crafting the instruments he chose for this remix.We have had the opportunity to have Durante do a guest mix for us a while back. This is the first track of his I think we have featured. I first met Durante a couple years back when he was first working as an intern at Owsla alongside Jacob Millar my producing partner in Brooks & Millar. One of the first things about him that really impressed me when I first met him was his knowledge of music. He has a firm understanding of house and techno, where it comes from, its history and is genuinely excited to soak in as much information as he possibly can when it comes to the industry. It is a trait that I do not see often in many people who are trying to make this kind of music their profession. It is encouraging to see him make the progress that he has over the last couple of years and the LAMP crew hopes for nothing but success for Durante and his career going forward. This song really takes Mr. Puzl and myself back out to our secret desert parties a few of which Durante has joined us for. You can be sure if Durante is not at the next one we have, one of us will be dropping this tune for him for sure.
