Track of the Day: Alex Kennon - Blue Line (Oscar L Remix)

It has been a really fun and exciting week here at LAMP and we are capping it off with a unique take on our Track of the Day series. Today we are going to talk a little bit about Oscar L. He stopped through LA back in August and while our schedules didn't allow for us to meet up in person he was kind enough to send us an 1hr clip from his live set at Exchange LA to share with you all. As it turns out his mix actually starts out with the remix he recently put up on SoundCloud we have chosen for the track of the day. Lapsus Music released Alex Kennon's 'Amigdala' EP October 6th which includes the remix of 'Blue Line' from Oscar L. He takes Kennon's Original which has a smooth sort of island vibe to it and completely flips it. If you listen carefully to them side by side you can here some distinct similarities in how the groove is laid out and where he tweaked the xylophone from the original. Otherwise the remix from Oscar L couldn't be more different. In a good way obviously. Completely changing the Balearic tone he has put together a monster tech house jam. Characterized by a room shaking kick and the insanely complicated menagerie of percs. Oscar creates a solid tech house groove that he accentuates with the siren element really elevating this track to another level. It has that sort of classic 90's rave feel to it.We were really bummed we weren't able to align our schedules when Oscar was in town last time. The man in the desert was calling so we were on our way to Black Rock City. We heard he tore the place up, and from what I have heard of this mix that seems to be an accurate assessment. When it comes to Techno and Tech House it seems like we are always pointing to artists in Germany. Obviously great producers of techno can be found all over the world. Having spent a fair amount of there, Spain also seems to be a great place to find some of the best techno and tech house the world has to offer. On the DJ train since 1996 and producing since 2002 Oscar L who hails from the beautiful Spanish countryside and is currently based out of Madrid is someone I would consider one of the best. His is a name that I have seen consistently for the past decade. A career that has seen him produce for just about every major label out there and tracks that regularly reach into the beatport charts. Oscar is the king of remixes. In addition to all of his originals he is pumping out remixes on the regular as well and has been his entire career. There are between 200-300 tracks he has put out over his career. Additionally he is also racking up quite a lot of frequent flyer miles traveling the globe sharing his incredible talent. The list is extensive but from holding down his own events in Ibiza to his many bookings at the worlds best clubs and music venues and countless festivals Oscar L is one of those artists that just knows how to get people moving on the dance floor and leaving them wanting more. If you are digging this live set from Oscar L make sure to check out his radio show 'Dmix' where he has regular guest and also re-post's other live sets from his past gigs. Look forward to his return to Los Angeles, in the mean time enjoy what he has to offer down below and on his soundcloud.
