South Soul Project - My Mind

South Soul Project delivers a vibrant slow grooving UK House tune with 'My Mind'. The tune sets out with an awesome collection of percussive elements that continue to build in their complexity and varying arrangement as a comprehensive layer to the overall song. The track's vocals are rudimentary at the core but the range of effects literally cause the words to enter the cerebral fray as they bounce and swing from eardrum to eardrum. Traditional UK bass line tones, and analog synths are added for good measure as they round out a near 7 minutes of delightful bliss.This release comes out on the newly formed This Ain't Bristol label (a Hanover based imprint focused on representing true UK sounds), which is beginning to provide me with some of my favorite sounds at the moment. The collective itself is at this moment a mysterious group hailing from London with aspirations of making themselves heard within the bass scene as well as building a catalogue of "new-school' house and garage sounds. These ambitions are clearly being met with the likes of their label brethren Rudimental, Skream & Benga, Zinc, and Rob Da Bank championing their sounds. Their presence on Black Butter can only mean exciting things for this group as they continue to peel back the layers of their identity and their potential.With 'My Mind' and some of their releases on Black Butter's Volume 3, we see the South Soul Project collective venturing away from the up tempo garage sounds we've heard from their earlier work such 'All Your Time' and the electrifying remix of 'Lazarus Taxon' by Kidnap Kid. While they still maintain much of their identity with their releases on Black Butter's recent Volume 4 collection. All in all the group still in it's public infancy has demonstrated a healthy range of sounds and a level of production that continues to propel the UK dance scene forward setting it up as the most progressive and groundbreaking region out there.Loving this tune at the moment as well...
