Track of the Day: J.E.E.P. - Terroir Tropical

In the spirit of the season I thought I would pick something with slightly spooky undertones and an immersive soundscape. J.E.E.P.’s latest release, ‘Terroir Tropical’ out now on Galaktika Records, fit the bill perfectly. ‘Terroir Tropical’ emphasizes J.E.E.P.’s range as a producer. While it maintains many of the elements from the chillwave/indie electronica sound that J.E.E.P. has become known for, ‘Terroir Tropical’ does stand as a bit of a departure from his usual fare with a little more of that deep house energy that we love so much over here at LAMP. Etienne is a multi-instrumentalist French DJ and producer based out of Berlin and he has been tearing it up for a few years now. His debut EP, ‘Luftbrucke EP’, was released in 2013 on a sublabel of Andres Vegas and Maurice Aymard’s Galaktika Records called aPersonal Music. Since then Etienne has been building up an impressive resume. His collaboration with Massimiliano Pagliara, Egyptian Nipples, is particularly interesting. Egyptian Nipples is a smooth fusion between 1970’s melodies and modern Italian disco that hits the nostalgia right in the feels. It is also important to note that Etienne tends to play many of the instruments that you hear in his tracks himself. That personal connection to his music shines through with every note.
