What better way is there to celebrate American independence than jamming out to some German techno? A couple of days ago Gunjah released his latest EP ‘Good Morning’ on MUKKE, a sublabel of Dirty Doering’s Katermukke. The B-Side, ‘Good Beating’, is a beautiful, hard hitting progressive house tune with heavy acid vibes and exotic melodies. Gunjah makes heavy use of bleeping synths and a tight snare to build energy in this 80’s reminiscent technoid track. He played his first gig in his hometown of Dresden in 1994 and since then he says that techno has been a huge part of his life. Gunjah is an insanely talented producer. He released his first EP, ‘Funkwelt EP’, in 2003 on 1st Decade Records, a label based out of Erfurt, Germany. Gunjah did a fair amount of work with that crew, releasing a few follow up EP’s on 1st Decade’s sublabel ARMUT24 before linking up with Niconé and forming their side project Møenster. Since then Gunjah has continued to work with top tier talent and churned out quality music. Over the years Gunjah has collaborated with the likes of Ron Flatter, Hanne & Lore, Daniel Stefanik, and Gui Boratto. More recently Gunjah and Niconé have had a string of releases on KATERMUKKE including this year’s trippy ‘Hypno Acid’ and last year’s ‘Sura’.
