Track of the Day: Gerry Gonza - Right Now

A duo that has been making tunes that I have been gobbling up like candy over the last couple of years is Thee Cool Cats. Out of Mexico this pair (Gerry Gonza & Tony Edit) made a name for themselves with releases on Bunny Tiger, Toolroom and Cuff to name a few. I am not exactly sure when but sometime during 2016 Gerry decided to go the solo route leaving Thee Cool Cats to Tony who is continuing to crush it across the globe with the #Hustlgang. If anything this is a good thing because now they are both making dope new music for me to gobble up. I had the pleasure of getting to know Gerry over the New Years Eve weekender we were both a part of in Baja, Mexico. As one would expect we got to talking about music and he filled me in on what he is working on at the moment. Most recently he just released this 3 track EP with Audio Rehab with another coming later this week from Club Sweat. For our track of the day I chose to go with "Right Now". Quickly building up the groove with a nice boomy kick and tweaked snare combo Gonza gives it a bit of a tribal jungle feel with the addition of the bongo and woodblock. About 30 seconds in comes a punchy organ stab that brings this song out of the jungle and straight to the club. Taking on a sexy tech house vibe that makes you want to grab your girl and hit the dance floor. The vocal is rather alluring as well. Much respect to Gonza for taking the solo leap.Looking forward to hearing more from him here in the future.
