Everybody, Get Down - Kedd Cook

LA based Kedd Cook brings a funky, sexy vibe to the deep house genre featuring a well executed vocal sample from a classic 90's hip hop tune. Everybody, Get Down opens up with a nice kick/snare loop that sprinkles in some sexy piano stabs and few vocal chops. A rising low end synth builds into the composition reminding me of some uptempo, detuned, swing chords. The full female vocal sample opens up and builds into a nice little bridge as percussion layers are carefully mixed in and out. The meat of the track really jumps off when that funky low end bass is separated out for a few bars letting it sink in before bringing you right back into the fold.Kedd Cook opened 2014 with this release, and seemingly a real sense of purpose, as he was appearing on line-ups all over LA. The exciting thing about Kedd is that while his performance schedule is busy his sets are always very unique and diverse, a sign of self-aware performer not willing to regurgitate sets week in and week out. For your own dose of the chef, you can find Kedd Cook with good pal Tropicool at Red Tide (SHOREbar) most Thursdays by the ocean. This young producer does not seem to have limits to his abilities with projects like RollingTuff, countless amazing events at Sound, and certainly many more sounds to come!Also I highly recommend listening to some of his live recorded sets to get a taste:
