No Diggity (Figgy Remix) - Blackstreet

Figgy injects an grooving uptempo deep house mood to 'No Diggity' in his rework of the '96 Hip Hop classic by Blackstreet.Everything from the vocal loops to the stripped down bass lines has been neatly an carefully remixed by Figgy. The bridge itself is honestly my favorite part, a wonderful build that stacks all the best elements of the original from the chorus to the rocking piano chords that crescendos perfectly. What I appreciate the most about this approach to the original is the conscious choice to stay away from the well known chorus "I like the way you work it..." and instead sampling more choice cuts to create his vocal layers. As always, we love to the contrast between genres and the changing times of music with a little bit of history. Check out the timeless music video below feat. Dr Dre, Queen Pen and of course Blackstreet:This release comes off of Figgy's own imprint Cut & Dry Records, a new platform the Boston/New York based DJ has recently launched. Clearly influenced by the flavors and sounds of the East Coast, Figgy's productions really focus on the soulful elements of vocals while molding house and disco rhythms and beats to bring the tempo of his tracks to today's audience. Originally a jazz trombonist Figgy landed onto the scene in 2012 with 2 EPs How You Feel and For The One on labels Freshmore and Symbols respectively. Given the array of remixes and originals already completed, it's no surprise that this producer has mastered his trade. With 10 Beatport charts, top downloads and high charting Hype M the results speak for themselves. If you ever get a chance to see him we recommend heading to Brooklyn and hitting up Broke City, a long standing club night that prominently features this exceptionally taleneted DJ in his element. For now you'll have to settle for his Soundcloud and hunt the listings for his upcoming shows:Check out the track in this my mix this week along with a lot of other choice tunes. Finally stay on top of your game with tickets to our upcoming LAMP 2 Year Anniversary.2-Year-Anniversary-webEnjoy,MR PUZL
