LAMP Premiere: 28mm - Blackbird [PRGRSSN]
Hello LAMP Fam! We are back again with another premiere this week. This time from local talent 28mm. His latest EP is coming out this Friday on Le Youth's label PRGRSSN. The three track EP titled Ultraviolet is one you will want to add to your collections whether it be as a dj or a casual listener. Another alumni of the LAMP Weekly Mix series, we have come to know 28mm over the last few years here in Los Angeles and have watched his progression and could not be more excited to share a track from this collection.

For today's premiere we are focusing on the second track on the EP, 'Blackbird'. The first words that comes to mind when I put this track on is joy and happiness. Right from the beginning you are greeted with soft and uplifting synths that set the tone. Shortly after 28mm introduces the punchy lead synth that sounds like a chorus of trombones at which point I am instantly hooked. I really love how the sound modulates throughout the track from staccato to legato, really creating an exceptional flow to the song. As the song builds we are introduced to lovely vocal that continues to accentuate the uplifting nature of Blackbird. If I had any complaints with this track (which I don't) it would be only that I want it to go on for maybe 20 minutes it is that good. In times like this music is often the only answer and Blackbird provides a certain soothing calm to my day while also getting me in the mood to dance my pants off.

Los Angeles’ 28mm debuts on Le Youth’s PRGRSSN Records with his three-track ‘Ultraviolet’ EP.
A rising name amongst the West Coast music scene, Los Angeles-based DJ and producer 28mm is an emergingtalent within the melodic house and techno sphere, delivering club-ready productions infused with powerful vocalsand driving, impactful synths. With releases to date via the likes of Astralwerks and Understated Records, early-September now welcomes a debut appearance on Le Youths fledgling PRGRSSN Records, readying three freshproductions in the form of his ‘Ultraviolet’ EP.
Title cut ‘Ultraviolet’ uncovers a rich production accented by hypnotic vocal hooks, resonant synths and delicatepercussion, whilst ‘Blackbird’ welcomes further vocal work layered atop of blossoming and warping melodies. Toclose, the emotive ‘Never-ending’ sees striking chords paired alongside driving leads and refined drum work to shapeup proceedings in style.
