Track of the Day: TIJN - 303 Tool

Originally developed for guitars the Roland TB-303 eventually found its way into the studios of house producers in the 80's and 90's. The bass line generator became a staple of house grooves and essential in the creation of the early acid house lines with its sequencing abilities. It's invention is often considered a major contributor to the proliferation of House and dance music today. As a person who is drawn to that twangy, sequencing that is acid it is interesting to learn a little bit about the history of this amazing piece of music gear. No longer in production but emulated in software and new versions of the hardware the sound is still abound throughout the house music world. The Uk Producer TIJN recently put out a new EP for Decay Records 303 Tool which has two new originals as well as along with a remix from Pezzner. "303 Tool" is a nod to some of those classic jams from the late 80's, early 90's. A soft dreamy pulsating organ chord kicks of the track with a soulful and jazzy bass line and some snappy high hats and claps setting off the groove. Outside of the groove and other parts mentioned earlier there isn't much else going on. That is until TIJN brings in that sexy little 303 Acid line that he plays with for the better part of the track while varying the groove and other pieces of this arrangement. I really love this track for its beautiful simplicity. I find my self stomping to the beat after the 20th time listening to it like I was the first time I heard it. In addition to this track you will find "Get Me Two" which is a little more minimal-tech along with a great remix of "303 Tool" from Pezzner. Check em all out below along with more from TIJN.
