Today’s track of the day comes to us from Oslo-born, Los Angeles-based producer Jerry Folk. With his latest official release, Jerry Folk puts his spin on Charlie Puth’s hit single “How Long”. The remix adopts a decidedly dance floor oriented vibe with a strongly disco and house influenced beat grooving underneath Puth’s effervescent vocals.
The funky four on the floor feel to the track is a slight departure from much of Jerry Folk’s previous work but proves to be a tasteful and welcomed pivot in his sound. The vibe is slightly more reminiscent of Montreal producers like Kaytranada and Pomo but Folk manages to make the style his own with the high level of production and signature sonic quality that has defined his sound over the years. This new dimension in Folk’s production style can also be heard in his latest free release “Make a Wish” which adopts more of the same in terms of groove and energy.
We here at LAMP are always fans of the funk so we are happy to welcome this new side of Jerry Folk’s style. For more funky tunes and good vibes, join us this Saturday as we co-host with Sound Nightclub to bring you an epic night of music with Jerry Folk, Saint WKND, and yours truly Damon Steele.
