Track of the Day: Anja Schneider – Hey
Today I thought we would take it back a few years to late-September of 2013. Following up on the massively successful ‘Diagonal EP’ from earlier that year, Anja Schneider released the stunning 2-tracker ‘Hey’. The EP’s title track is a tribute to Ron Hardy, one of the pioneers of house music in Chicago during the 80’s. The first half features a wobbly bassline and a bouncing synth over a spoken sample. But when that dull keyboard chord comes in around the 4:20 mark all bets are off. Smooth, soulful, and classy with a hint of acid. That’s classic Anja Schneider right there. Beautiful tune!
Anja Schneider has been pretty busy since we featured her ‘Soul Traveler’ back in November. On top of maintaining her busy touring schedule playing at clubs and festivals around the globe, Schneider has still managed to find time to hit the studio to release two more EP’s. Back in April she released the dark and amazing ‘Changes EP’ on her home label of Mobilee while her ‘Twisty EP’ dropped in July on Hot Since 82’s Knee Deep In Sound. Further, Schneider, a stalwart and co-founder of Mobilee for 12 years, recently announced her departure from the house and techno label to start her own label SoUS Music. The label will launch with the release of her first full-length album in 9 years.
