Track of the Day: Shosho – Belkim
Happy Monday! Yesterday 303 Lovers posted both tracks for Shosho’s forthcoming ‘Belkim EP’, due out on 8/11, to their Soundcloud page and both of them are bangers. ‘Belkim’, the new EP’s title track, is a particularly groovy tech house track with some definite tribal influences. While it leads in with a clean hi-hat and some muffled percussion ‘Belkim’ quickly gives way to a deep, bouncy bassline. The part that really hooked me though is that quick modulated synth during the breakdowns that almost sounds like a sample of a digeridoo. The contrast between the influences of those tribal sounds and the modern methods with which they were produced help make ‘Belkim’ a fun and multidimensional tech house track. Good stuff!
Shosho is a DJ and producer based out of Sofia, Bulgaria. With over 15 years of DJ and production experience under his belt now, Shosho has firmly entrenched himself as a staple of the Eastern European techno and tech house market. In 2016 his track ‘Smooth Talker’ was featured on Set About Records’ WE002 compilation and since then has become a regular fixture with Metodi Hristov’s crew. His track ‘Analog Rain’, produced alongside Hristov for Terminal M in February, definitely made a splash earlier this year peaking at #31 on Beatport’s Techno chart. Outside of Shosho’s work with Hristov and Set About he has released music for some really interesting labels including Toolroom, Tulipa Recordings, and New Violence Records.
