Track of the Day: Jamie Jones & Nathan Barato – Cherry’s Revenge

This morning Jamie Jones and Nathan Barato released their first collaborative EP on Jones’s underground oriented imprint Hottrax. ‘Cherry’s Revenge’, the new EP’s title track, is just the kind of booty shaking bass heavy tech house tune that you need on a Friday. ‘Cherry’s Revenge’ leads in with a hard kick and tight snares but quickly gives way to a wobbly, drunken bassline that promises to make any tech house fan’s head bob. But it’s the chopped up vox and modulated synths that really set this track apart. When that siren comes in it just feels like you’re doing something wrong. Classic Jamie Jones. Great party tune and one that is sure to bump at underground parties all year!

We all know who Jamie Jones is. He runs a couple of the hottest record labels in the tech house space and tours harder than just about anybody on the planet. Nathan Barato isn’t exactly a slouch himself. He has been a staple of the Toronto night life scene for over 15 years now and he only keeps getting better. Barato’s music has appeared on a wide range of labels including Toolroom, Cajual, and Incorrect. Since his first release on Hot Creations in 2014, Barato has established himself as a lynchpin member of Jamie Jones’s crew. Barato’s ‘Freak Beater EP’, out earlier this year on Hot Creations, was an absolute monster with both ‘Stomp Change’ and ‘Freaks Of The Industry’ coming within a hair’s breadth of cracking the top 10 on Beatport’s Tech House chart.
