Track of the Day: Forrest & Cristoph – 25
Happy Monday! Today I thought we would bring it back to September 2015 with a track that Forrest and Cristoph did for 20/20 Vision. As we would expect from a collaboration such as this, ‘25’ is a gritty track full of depth and texture. The contrast between the delicate piano melody and the heavy kick drums and droning bass make the track feel huge. Cristoph is a master at balancing that dynamic. But to me it is Forrest’s vocal track that adds that one extra layer that ties everything together. A beautiful tune from a pair of incredibly talented artists!
Zach Joss, aka Forrest, is a Canadian DJ, vocalist, and producer based out of Montreal. Recently a favorite of mine, I first came across Forrest’s work last year with Dennis Ferrer’s remix of ‘One Of Us’. I was drawn to the vocal track in particular. As a vocalist and lyricist Forrest does a fantastic job of writing catchy lyrics and delivering them with a gut full of soul. Forrest has collaborated with some of the top names in the House and Tech House space including Re.You, Darlyn Vlys, and more recently Serge Devant while his tracks have been released by labels like Moon Harbour, mobilee, and Get Physical. Forrest is also a founding member of Amadeus Records, an independent label based out of London, Los Angeles, and Montreal.
Cristoph is a British DJ and producer based out of Newcastle. With releases on Knee Deep In Sound, Selador, and ViVa Music Cirstoph has become known around the world for his dynamic sound. His latest release, ‘Eleven’, for Last Night On Earth is currently #1 on Beatport’s Progressive House chart and #39 on the Top 100.
