Track of the Day: Dirty Doering – Dirty Talk feat. Fran
A couple of weeks ago Dirty Doering released ‘Dirty Talk EP’ on his own imprint, Katermukke. The new EP’s title track is something of a throwback. ‘Dirty Talk’ would have found itself right at home in clubs like the Warehouse or the Muzik Box back in the mid-80’s. While the track features a hypnotic synth line and fat dose of some funky dub, the highlight of the tune is a vocal track from Fran that will get even the most responsible party goers to drop the façade and shake it like we all know that they really want to. Yet another monster from the man himself!
Velten Doering, better known by his moniker Dirty Doering, is a DJ, producer, and label boss based out of Berlin. Seeing as he founded Katermukke I am a little surprised we have overlooked Doering so far. The guy is a beast. A tastemaker: pure and simple. Doering started out as a bartender at a club called BAR 25 where he would hand out his mixtapes to patrons and offer his take on the scene to techno tourists. Eventually they brought him on as a resident DJ and, before he knew it, he was getting booked in clubs from Tokyo to Turkey. Now he churns out chart smashers like nobody’s business with last year’s ‘Hallelujah’ hitting #16 on Beatport’s Minimal chart and ‘Cape of Good Hope’ peaking at #44 on Deep House. ‘Tokoloshe’, also from ‘Dirty Talk EP’, is already at #15 on Electronica/Downtempo and still climbing. Can’t wait to see what he has in store for us next!
