Track of the Day: The Golden Boy - 8 Bit

We have shown The Golden Boy a bit of love here at LAMP over the years. Not one but three tracks and now four have been featured as our Track of the Day. We first introduced you to The Golden Boy with his remix of Aaron Smith's "Dancin" followed by his Whitney Houston bootleg. The last track we featured of his was from 2015 "The Promise". The last month has been a huge one for him with a big release on Emerald City followed up by this one from one of our favorites Glasgow Underground. I tend to get kind of excited when I see 8 Bit in the title of a song. It usually means you can expect some fun and chunky, midi style keyboard rifs that made for some pretty catchy video game tunes back in the 80's and 90's. The Golden Boy's "8 Bit" is not short on its usage of funky beat crushed synths and midi rifs to really emulate that same sort of style. Accompanying these quirky cascading synths is a booming bass line driving and pumping along with a straight forward and vibrant kick-snare groove. A great track to keep the people dancing for sure. To be truthful while writing and listening to "8 Bit" I couldn't help but feel a little bit like I was trapped in a crazy hyped up game of "Paperboy" or "Skate or Die". Definitely some old video game nostalgia going on in my brain after this one. His other track on this EP is absolutely fantastic as well. It is more on the progressive side of thing and 100 percent worth checking out along with his new one from Emerald City which i have linked down below.
