Track of the Day: Ryan Davis - Jima

Track of the Day: Ryan Davis - Jima

The LAMP crew is headed back out to the Mojave Desert again this weekend. For me personally it is a great opportunity to get away from all of the city lights and sounds and just disconnect for a few hours. It is never a big ordeal usually just a handful of friends and musicians coming together to enjoy a night of music under a stunning desert sky. Another aspect that I really enjoy is the opportunity to explore and play music that I would normally not be able to get away with in the bustling club scene of Los Angeles. One label that I absolutely adore is Parquet Recordings. Having discovered them a few years back it has become one of my go to labels when it comes to playing deep melodic techno sets that send you on a journey. What better place to do that than out under the stars in the desert. Ryan Davis returns to Parquet and brings us the latest release for them with "Jima". Starting of with a dreamy synth line I feel like I have been instantly whisked away to some far off tropical Island paradise as a broken beat sort of tribal groove sets in along with some plucky little wind chimes. As the track moves along each of the elements build on each other elevating the track giving it an majestic vibe while the track continues to carry you further in to musical paradise. In addition to the original Parquet regular Solee also has a remix of "Jima" which takes the track down a bit of a heavier path than the original and also highly recommended. Check it out down below. If this is your first exposure to Parquet I highly recommend you look through the reso of their amazing catalog when you get the chance. Enjoy.
