Track of The Day: OXIA - Secret

When we started doing this 4 years ago we did it out of a necessity to find an outlet to share the joy and inspiration that music brings to us. Whether that be House, Techno, or something entirely different and unclassified, something new or something from the past the journey has been extremely educational and thoroughly enjoyable. Thank you to everyone who has supported us along the way. 2017 is already off to a great start and we already have some great surprises planned and are looking forward to what the rest of the year has in store.

Track of The Day: OXIA - Secret

This year I was extremely happy to get to play a sunrise set along side the Pacific Ocean in Baja Mexico. Those late night into early morning hours contain something magical when you get the right group of people together in the right setting and artist/dj that know how to select and mix the right songs. An artist whose music I often look to in those situations is one that I was surprised to find we had never featured here, OXIA. The French producers career covers over a decade of releases with a number of high profile labels including his own. One of my most treasures vinyls, my favorite and his most popular track is from the Speicher 34 EP release which contains "Domino". This track no matter when and where I play it lights up a dancefloor especially during those early morning sets. I played it this New Years Day and it is what inspired me to share today's track of the day with you.As I mentioned before OXIA has been at this for quite sometime. While I was tempted to choose "Domino" as the track of the day, I wanted to go with something that highlighted what OXIA is up to currently. Recently he launched a new record label to go along with the others called Diversions along with friend of 15 years Nicolas Masseyeff. Secret Point is the second release for their new endeavor launched earlier in 2016. The first being a collaboration between the two. Of the three new songs on the EP "Secret" was the one that resonated with me the most. Slowly the track builds with a punchy kick/ snare combo and lonely Tom bouncing alongside. A soft modified glockenspiel synth line is introduced moving the track along before gradually giving way as the heavy bass line teases itself before fully taking over and becoming the driving force behind the song. One final addition is Oxia's use horns on top of the bass line giving this track a very commanding feel. It is another in a very long line of amazing productions. He truly is one of my favorite producers going back as far as I can remember. Make sure to check out the other additions to this new label and EP down below along with the plethora of other releases he has had.
