Mura Masa and Yung Bae - I Bought My Girlfriend Omega Ruby For 3DS And She Called Me An Otaku

Old meets meta as two young producers take on an old classic and give it a "level up" of epic proportions. Warped vocal samples are boldly mashed with rolling piano synths and a host of percussion arrangements that although a borrowed sound are undeniably original in their composition. In this ode to Tyrone Davis and his classic 'In the Mood' Mura Masa and Yung Bae seem to appropriately immerse themselves into the era retaining that slow grooving style while injecting elements of classic disco and R&B vibes. Honestly attempting to further associate era and styles would be a disservice to this song. My only critique is that the 2:38 run time leaves me wanting more, and my only remedy is to loop this track over and over.

Tyrone Davis- In The Mood

The track name itself is a mouthful but in the most web relevant way possible, touching on young love, gaming consoles and Japanese fanboy culture. Although it's not the longest song title in the history of music it's still hilariously current; that award apparently goes to 90s Swedish pop group Rednex and their track "The Sad But True Story Of Ray Mingus, The Lumberjack Of Bulk Rock City, And His Never Slacking Strive To Exploit The So Far Undiscovered Areas Of The Intention To Bodily Intercourse From The Opposite Species Of His Kind, During Intake Of All The Mental Conditions That Could Be Derived From Fermentation". Even an attempt at an acronym proves comical; IBMGORF3ASCMAO. Looks kind of like a serial number for a VST product.Mura Masa aka Alex Crossan is British born producer that is steadily on the rise amongst a new wave of young producers revisiting the old classics and giving them a reboot through an old Famicom. Inspired by the likes of TNGHT, Hudson Mohawke Baauer and Pyramid Juke we can understand how his eclectic style has come to be. While still very young and full of limitless options in his life his knack for uncovering samples and enveloping them in an array of futuristic environments poses a strong and viable outlook in the music industry.Yung Bae aka @therealyungbae is Portland native with a bright future ahead of him. His recent collaboration with Mura Masa couldn't have been more appropriate. Look out for more productions by this extremely talented producer this year, and for now enjoy some of his recent works below:Check this and other tunes out on our Special Guest Mix by DJ Godzilla:Enjoy,MR PUZL
