Track of the Day: Man With No Shadow - Hells Bells [OFF Recordings]

Well hello there readers, fellow music enthusiasts and general lovers of LAMP. Happy Monday! It's been quite a while since I've done a TOTD review but with the departure of our editor Mike Grant I'll be stepping in from time to time to share some of my favorite tracks that have been coming out recently. After catching sets from Drumcell and DJ Deep this past weekend at Droid Behavior - Interface 58 / 15 Years I'm in a techno kind of mood today and decided to pick out a new release from Man With No Shadow called 'Hells Bells' of his Apatik EP via OFF Recordings. The 4 track release includes a remix of Hells Bells by Drumcomplez and 2 other stellar original. To be honest it was hard to pick one, with Apatik being a close second favorite of mine.'Hells Bells' is an unabashed, driving techno thumper with a double time kick to really send the message home. Opening up with some sharp hi-hats that have a nice short delay on them, while the full force of the kick slowly reveals itself as the track progresses. A pulsating sub that's side chained to the kick really immerses you into the soundscape right from the get go, and you really get a feel for the low-end drive once the mid range kick settles into the arrangement. A slowly budding melody adds a nice progressive touch to the track as it starts to push its way through the drums. The synth really takes command of the arrangement a few minutes in, with some nice filter automations that change everything from the timbre, to the initial delay envelope that really widens out the sound in the stereo field. With some simple but effective added percussive elements thrown in to meld the transitions together this rounds out an awesome peak hour tune for those late night warehouse sets.Check out the full EP below:Man With No Shadow is a Dutch producer hailing from Amsterdam having made a name for himself in the events world by hosting a variety of well-established parties in his home country as well as taking his knowledge to the festival circuit, and touring worldwide. In 2015 he shifted away from event production to focus on music production full-time and it has been extremely fruitful having seen his releases find homes on imprints such as 100% Pure, THUMP, Alive, and now OFF can be added to that list.Surprisingly, I don't have much of his music in my catalog, but that will certainly change after this release!
