Track of the Day: Lonya - Cottage (Fec Remix)

Happy Monday my friends! Today we have a stellar remix from Mexican DJ and producer Fec. Earlier this month Fec contributed a remix to Israeli producer Lonya’s ‘Cottage EP’, out now on Ante Records. Fec does an amazing job at taking the original elements from Lonya’s mix and repackaging them into something that is entirely his own. While Lonya’s mix is more of a forlorn progressive track, Fec twists ‘Cottage’ into a fun, bouncy tune that lives on the border between progressive and tech house. ‘Cottage (Fec Remix) opens up with the bass filtered out but it quickly drops in with one hell of a crash. My favorite part is the third verse. That melodic synth that fades back and forth between the left and right channels fits perfectly with the echoing stab. Great track! Fec obviously put a lot of time into this one.Francisco Favela is a Mexican DJ, producer, and label boss from Juarez. Since he first started his career as a DJ in 2006, Favela has played all over Mexico and opened up for some of the biggest names in scene. Favela has played alongside artists like Catz ‘n Dogz, Audiofly, and John Tejada. He also runs an independent record label called Anathema Records alongside Alán Parker aka Alerch. Anathema has signed some pretty impressive artists as well having featured acts like My Favorite Robot, Brian Cid, and Aaryon on their podcast series and at their parties. Outside of his own label, Favela has released tracks for labels Submarine Vibes, Doppelgaenger, and Wood among others.
