Let's Go - Sonny Fodera & Cervendos

'Let's Go' by Sonny Fodera & Cervendos is a eclectic mix of styles and sounds from soft progressive synth builds to bass jacking drops. The track opens doesn't mince words and opens up with a wonderfully full kick and clap combo. Quick vocal chops come into the fold as well as more percussion layers that setup a very smooth almost peaceful synth build. Through the breakdown we hear the echoing vocal loop of an angelic female voice that returns with more rising chords. This intro really throws the listener for a curve as we anticipate a progressive style drop, but are met with something quite the contrary. A thumping bass line combined with break beats erupts and we're suddenly transported into a deep dark warehouse environment. What impresses me the most about the tune is it's ability to transition between two seemingly contrasting styles throughout the song.Sonny Fodera is no stranger to Defected's catalogue and has released numerous tracks on the imprint. He has also been a staple of premier labels such as Toolroom, Relief, Hed Kandi, Cajual Records, Farris Wheel Recordings, Guesthouse, Suara and too many more to list. To say the least Sonny Fodera's career has skyrocketed over the past few years with credit due to Cajmere taking the budding producer under his wing. For this particular release he teamed up with 22 year old Hungarian producer Cervendos. This young producer has traversed the electronic music spectrum experimenting with everything from funky house to glitch hop to electro house. His knack for music started at very young age. Both he and his brother would listen to radio tunes and then attempt to play them back from memory. Elements of his style are certainly apparent in this recent collaboration with Sonny Fodera and we hope to hear more of this style in his future releases, but as is apparent nothing seems to be set in stone yet while he continues to experiment and push the envelop of his sound.Enjoy,MR PUZL
