Track of the Day + Interview feat. Christian Smith

Chiristian-Smith-Interview.jpg

A couple of weeks ago Christian Smith was here in the US for a quick tour and we were very fortunate to be able to sit down and chat with the owner of Tronic Records. He made stops in San Diego, Phoenix, Minneapolis, Santa Fe, and here in Los Angeles. We first caught up with him Sunday night at the Incognito event downtown. It was a wonderful outdoor setting under the stars and an all around great night of music and dancing. The next day MR PUZL and I discussed music and life followed by some pretty epic tacos. The following is the recording of the interview conducted by MR PUZL. We will be following up in this post soon with the full transcript. Thanks for tuning in, and if you are curious when you can catch Christian again here in LA he will be back at the end of September so make sure to keep an eye out for the details on when and where.Doing a double feature here and doubling up with our track of the day review as well. Christian Smith has been one of my favorite artists for as long as I can remember listening to house and techno. He is an incredible artist but also a teacher and has been instrumental in developing the house and techno music world for the better part of the last 3 decades. It was a pleasure to get to sit down with him and was very insightful. For our track of the day I chose "Explanation" with a little irony thrown in as the track really needs no explanation. I went back in time a little for this one but Input-Output is an incredible album and if you have not taken the chance to listen to it, I would strongly recommend you add it to your spotify que. It is his third full length album released about a year ago on his label Tronic. Taking us on a slightly subdued techno journey with bouncy melody that definitely will get your body quaking. Enjoy and have a great weekend.
