Today we have one from a personal favorite of mine, Digitaria. The Brazilian duo recently contributed a tune to ‘Decay’ for Third Son’s new label Polymath. The concept behind Polymath is that each EP will consist of one piece each from three different artists all along a central theme. Previous releases include ‘Soul’ with contributions from Finnebassen, Jonas Saalbach & Tschoris, and Habischman, as well as ‘Genus’ with contributions from Einmusik, Third Son, and Pete Oak. Digitaria’s version of ‘Decay’ continues the duo’s trend toward darker, melodic techno. ‘Decay’ features a heavy, pulsating bassline and an echoing arpeggio that offers the listener a truly immersive soundscape. It feels like you are in a dark room where something is dying... Sometimes that is a good thing.[soundcloud url="https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/163789946" params="color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false" width="100%" height="166" iframe="true" /]Digitaria is the name of the production and DJ duo of Daniela Caldella and Daniel Albinati. Originally from Brazil, they started out as a four piece band before transitioning into a DJ act. In 2011 they met Jamie Jones and passed him a few unreleased tracks. He promptly signed them to Hot Creations where they have released several successful EP’s including ‘Masochist’, ‘Shine’, and ‘Planets, Spaceships’. More recently the Brazilians have seen releases on major industry labels like Items & Things, ViVa MUSIC, and Get Physical. Much of their newer music seems to indicate a new direction from the Digitaria. While their earlier work was primarily deep house and tech house their last few releases have been much heavier. Last year they dropped several deep, high octane techno tracks including a remix Faktorm’s ‘Faith’ on Get Physical an original track called ‘Starburst Poem’ for Items & Things. Very good stuff. On another note, congratulations to Damon Steele on his LAMP debut, ‘Trust The Feeling’, from his forthcoming ‘Crystal Currents EP’! He has been putting a lot of hours in and it really shows. Check it out for some fantastic downtempo beats!
