Cashmere Cat & DJ Mustard - Ice Rink

Cashmere Cat teams up with ratchet maestro DJ Mustard to deliver 'Ice Rink', the first in a series of new collaborations between the two producers. This track has been in the works since last January and the details in the Soundcloud post hint at many more releases to come. The track opens up with Mustard's famous call sign "Mustard on the beat, hoe!", a voice sample from his work with YG on the track "I'm Good". The two styles seems to fuse harmoniously between fast cuts and up-tempo drops. Plucked and strummed guitar string samples blend together with sharp electro piano stabs that mix in with perfectly timed zips and pulls. DJ Mustard's influence can be heard with his long clap builds, thunderous kicks and choice vocal cuts. If this is a true taste of things to come we cannot be more excited for what the 2 producers have in store for us over the next few months.DJ mustard is best known for championing an up-tempo club vibe within the rap and hip-hop genre that has morphed into what is now commonly known as ratchet music. His reputation has built off of his long standing relationship with Compton producer YG, and he has produced hits for a slew of artists that include, Tyga, 2 Chainz, Ty Dolla Sign, T.I. and many more. It only seemed fitting that he would eventually cross paths with Cashmere Cat and begin to collaborate.Cashmere's history dates back to the mid 2000s when he represented his home country Norway as DJ FINAL in the World DJ Championships between 2006-2009. His foray into the dance music scene did not surface until 2012 when he unleashed a series of char topping remixes for Lana Del Rey, 2 Chainz and Jeremih. Cashmere Cat's ability to merge a variety of R&B, hip-hop and bass styles propelled him into the spotlight when VIBE rated him as #1 on the list of 25 genre-bending producers to close out 2012. Form there he has gone on to work with likes of Wiz Khalifa, Miguel and is set to kick off a tour with Ariana Grande this year. His live performances are always a treat and I recommend you check his tour dates below:Feb 25 – Kansas City, MO – Riot RoomFeb 26 – Austin, TX – The MohawkFeb 28 – Milwaukee, WI – MiramarMar 2 – Chicago, IL – Lincoln HallMar 4 – Cleveland, OH – Grog ShopMar 7 – Detroit, MI – Grasshopper UndergroundMar 8 – Toronto, ON – CodaMar 10 – Pittsburgh, PA – Rex TheaterMar 12 – Philadelphia, PA – Union TransferMar 13 – Boston, MA – ParadiseMar 21 – New York, NY – Webster HallMar 24 – Atlanta, GA – MasqueradeMar 27 – Orlando, FL – The SocialMar 29 – Miami, FL – Ultra Music FestivalApr 2 – Dallas, TX – It'll DoApr 3 – Oklahoma City, OK – ACM@UCOApr 6 – Phoenix, AZ – Crescent BallroomApr 11 – Indio, CA – Coachella Music FestivalApr 12 – Oakland, CA – New ParishApr 13 – San Francisco, CA – The IndependentApr 17 – Pomona, CA - The Glass HouseApr 18 – Indio, CA – Coachella Music FestivalIf you're a little late to the game and need a refresher on this talented producer check out his last EP 'Wedding Bells' and get ready to have your mind blown.Check this and other tunes out on our Special Guest Mix by DJ Godzilla:Enjoy,MR PUZL
