Track of the Day: Andre Gazolla - Recycle

I often go on track / crate digging binges especially if I've had a busy week or two at work and need to prep for a gig. My list can range anywhere from a couple hundred tracks to a 1000+ for a month. I'm not sure what that's like for other DJs, producers A&R, label heads, what have you but it takes careful consideration and time to narrow down to even that list for myself. The real fun begins when I start to make my playlists for those shows.Everyone has their own method of curating their sets but there's something exciting and exhilarating when you come across a track or two that give you goosebumps. Today's track 'Recycle' by André Gazolla had just that effect on me, and I thoroughly enjoyed playing it out this past weekend at Understated 002 during my b2b with PZB.'Recycle' kicks off with a sweet deep rolling bass line, layered with some nice crisp hats, shakers and a big meaty kick. It's not long before a electrifying progressive synth line injects some intensity and energy into the arrangement. The sound design and modulation of this particular layer is really interesting as it seems to meld electro, 90s progressive and even hints of a old school acid elements into it's construct. The real satisfying moment is when it drop out to lead into a gnarly bass/brass pad that carries through nicely into the subsequent section of the composition. Layer upon layer is added in from a secondary drum kit comprising of some heavily FX'd hand drums that blend nicely with the track's core percussion arrangement. The best reveal of the track takes well deserved patience as we are finally greeted by a intergalactic robot voice during the breakdown communicating a series of messages to us on this epic journey through space and time. This along with the rest of the EP titled Rollercoaster found their home on the forward thinking 303lovers imprint, and the whole collection is worth the purchase.Gazolla, has been featured once before on our review series when we invited the dynamic Austin duo Buala to do a guest mix for us. PZB dove into this beauty called 'Hauzologic', and I can remember the moment when he sent me a link to Gazolla's music. I was hooked for life. André Gazolla, has a phenomenal work rate and does not comprise his quality in any release. Furthermore there's something to be said for his ability to float between a multitude of house and techno styles while still channeling his own unique sound. Not one for many words or anything in the way of published interviews for that matter, the Brazilian producer has chosen to let his music speak for it self. And spoken it has, with a plethora of prominent labels snatching up his tracks and gigs worldwide Gazolla is already a household name in his native country and a go-to for many of the scene's high profile DJs.Highly recommend diving into another new release of his forthcoming on No Preset, February 13th.
