LAMP PREMIERE: Tau0n - Mechanical Heart [Slothacid]
What’s up LAMP fam! TIme for another premiere! Today we have a new one coming from one of my favorite new labels Slothacid which is run by none other than the Sloth man himself Mr. Sacha Robotti. This relatively new label has been dropping some real heat since it inception a little over a year ago and this latest EP from Tau0n is no exception.
Tau0n is comprised of producers Scott and Anais who played their first gig with the Funn Machine at Lightning in a Bottle followed by an appearance at a sold out Sound Nightclub for Sacha’s Slothacid takeover just before Covid hit. They have been keeping themselves busy in the meantime with several Livestream appearances most recently for the Slothacid Desert Hearts Takeover as well as the Slothacid Dirtybird takeover a few weeks ago.Additionally they have been getting plays from some notable notable streams from Insomniac, Octopus Records along with support from artists Steve Darko, Niles Shepherd, and VNSSA to name a few.
This is Tau0n’s 3rd release with Slothacid and it is a two tracker with the title track Mechanical Heart, our focus for the day, along with a collab with JTJ on the second titled The Space Between. The EP is available this friday 3/26/21 and you can pre-order it by hitting the button above.
Lets get down to business now. Tau0n starts us off with a snappy little groove that is reminiscent of all the monitors and sounds you would hear if you were in a hospital hooked up to the monitors. We even get a little tasted of that classic beep. Next thing you know I’m hearing the “All Clear’ call out in my head as we are shocked back to life with a massive and satisfyingly rich bassline that reaches down to the core and vibrates through every inch of your body. The track really takes shape when Anais comes in with her haunting vocal that enslaves the listener to the track. There are so many other little ticks and perks that jump out and really make this track super interesting and so unique from much of the music that I hear coming out these days. Looking forward to hearing this one on the big speakers soon!!!
